old clutch broke,replaced with new.Can shift thru gears with cover off,but when cover is put back on can only get it into one gear and no longer shifts. anyone with any idea what could be my problem.Help in fixing would be greatly appreciated and my son would like that too!

 

If you can shift through the gears with the new clutch ok without the cover but not with something is wrong in either your assembly or a tolerance issue with the parts. You should recheck all your work and the parts against specifications with the shop manual. My point is that if its truly still broken it should not work at all.
