im jetted with an intake and full yosh system.
i went to go out riding last night and my z has sat for about 2 months. i started it up and it was reving so high, to a point where i could smell the heat and my pipe was glowing at idle. idk if i havent noticed it before or this is a new problem. i proceded to ride my bike last night because i needed to get out to the bonfire. it had very low power and wasnt as snappy as usuall. also when i slowed down from riding it hard and downshifted it would stall even when i didnt let the clutch out. i was told to check my carb and choke, but have no idea really how to take it out. does it come out the left side of the bike? what other problems could it be? does anyone have pics or anything to help me.

Well let's see, hmm, sitting for two months with no sta-bil in the gas........ gummed up carburetor for sure & maybe now a new spark plug from trying to run the stale gas through it.
Take the seat off, take out the airbox bolts that hold it to the frame so it can slide back some, loosen the clamp from airbox to carb & clamp from intake boot to carb. Pull the carb out & clean it. Take the bowl screws out, remove the jets, spray them out good with carb cleaner & compressed air. Re-assemble in reverse order.
Also, drain the old gas out & put in fresh. A new plug would be a good idea also.
All this is minor repair & is actually what I'd call basic knowledge that ALL quad, bike & snowmobile riders should be capable of. If it isn't, then you really need to do some MAJOR magazine & repair manual reading. Maybe even take a quarter or semester of tech school classes on small engine mechanics & repair.
It really bugs me just how many people own recreational "toys" & havn't got the first clue how to work on them. I know it shouldn't, because it's their own problem & ignorance, but it just does.
