does any one know what the stock handle bar size is on a 2006 z400 like 7/8 or 1-1/8 and does it matter what size i get if i get a pair of new bars and what size would be better if it doesent matter? thanks

 

7/8 stock, yes it matters, the stock clamps are for 7/8 only.

 

While we are on the topic does anyone know some good handlebars for the z400 that are 7/8 and don't have a crossbeam? I was looking at some Pro Taper but they are 1 1/8 and I would have to get some new clamps plus the switchboard/dashboard won't fit on the bigger bar. Or anyone know how I could get the dash to fit on the bigger bar? Thanks

 

My father has a 2007 ltz400 and he recently bought new handlebars. I guess he founf pro tapers that fit stock clamps because he has them on now. He boughtthem at a local shop and you can take the cross beam off with a simple twist of an alan wrench.

 

I also have an 07 and that is what I am looking for. Might have to check out s few places in town. Thanks

 

most bars that are without the crossbrace are 1-1/8 and you can use them you just have to get new bar clamps for it

 

I just bought some renthal 7/8 with a crossbar and took it off. I know you are not suppose to but I did. The stock ones were 7/8 and they didn't have a crossbar so I should be fine. I would get 1 1/8 but then the dashboard wouldn't fit...

 

You can get kits that have a plate for the wiring if you want to go to 1 1/8" bars (TAG and Trailtech have them)
