problems with suzuki eiger
#1
we went riding yesterday and all was well until my eiger started to act like it was flooding then it started to backfire so i let it idle to burn excess fuel and it never did. When i started to try to move it would act like it wasnt getting gas and if you keep giving it gas it will kill i ended up limping out of the woods at about 2 mph and know my eiger wont evn move. it will idle fine but whenever you give it gas it acts like its not getting any fuel.
i would appreciate any ideas as i hve done all i know to do.

no but i did open up the air filter box and the the air filter was soaked and there was mud all in the box so i cleaned it but still did not help. could mud have gotten into the carb? it also when it was moving would backfire constantly.

I had a similar issue with my Eiger years ago. There was water in the carb float bowl and when the engine was at idle it would work fine but when you pushed more fuel through it it would splutter and die. The fix was to take a screwdriver and locate the drain at the bottom of the float bowl and give it a few turns until gas starts to drain out, 20 to 30 seconds of gravity draining while the engine is not running took care of it for me. I also cleaned and dried the air filter and soaked up any moisture in the air box. After that she was good!

i will try that what side is it easiest to get to the drain from and where exactly is it ? thanks it sounds like we had the same problem because water was in my airfilter and the air filter box.

What year is your Eiger? My '07 got crud in the carb through the vent hose that runs up under the seat. It would start and idle fine, but would bog and stall when I gave it gas. The crud was plugging the main jet. Just had to drop the float bowl and clean it and the main jet. Then I improvised a filter for the vent hose under the seat. No problems since.

Yeah, I had that problem too. I covered the vent hose with a bit of my wifes old pantyhose, problem solved. As to jeeps6255 question about the drain location, my memory is rusty but if you locate the carb just to the rear of it and down you will where the fuel line comes into it, beneath that is the float bowl, beneath that is a small screw. You only need to back it of a small amount to let the drain happen, and be careful not to tighten it back up too hard or you will strip the thing. I think it shows you in the manual where it is located.
