Default The difference between LT-F 500 and LT-A 500?

My cousin just bought a 2003 500 Vinson and in Kentucky ATV's are not titled. He is trying to buy brake pads and has learnt that he will need to know the exact model. Is there any easy way to tell the difference.

Pretty sure that thre were a couple of years where the Vinson was offered in both automatic and a five speed autoclutch. The 'F' would be the five speed and the 'A' would be the auto. I would think that the brakes would be the same.

Hmm, that doesnt make sense to me, my brother has an 03 vinson automatic, and I have an 02 vinson 5 speed, both of ours are LTA500F. The difference between the LTA500F and the LTF500F is in the frame but I am not sure if they are seperated by the years or what. ??? I am totally confused, I asked the dealer and he told me that the (A) is the Vinson and the (F) is the Quadrunner. hmmmm the stickers on our vinsons say "Vinson Quadrunner" so I dont know for sure, but I thought I would give my 2cents.

Yea, this is really crazy, the guys on ebay that sells brake pads for them are very adamant that there is a difference. I called the dealer in my home town and he said the same thing as the first reply, that F is 5 speed and A is automatic. The guy on ebay talks about there being a difference in the pads and not to order the wrong ones., but if you look up the OEM diagrams, the pads look the same and the part numbers are the same. I am just trying to find out so if we order parts online we always get the right thing.

There is an easy way to find out which one yours is it isn't a for auto or f for foot shift or five speed. It is however the difference between quadrunner and Vinson. .. if you want to know for sure please send me the 4th thru 8th digit of your Vin and I'll tell you what one yours is....hope this helps you guys out....

You are bit late with the answer as the question was in 2008. However I always thought LTA was auto and LTF manual gearbox, still think so, but Suzuki don't change these numbers when the new model comes out, so the current LTA500 is the King Quad. My guess is there would be a year or two when the LTF500 Quadrunner and an LTF500 Vinson were both available.
