Default Any Ozark problems ?

I am considering getting a second 250. I currently own a 250 Recon. I am looking at the Ozark because I like the higher ground clearance and the front disk brakes. I would like to hear about the Ozarks reliablility- anything that breaks, wears out, etc. Also, any other comments (likes/dislikes) about yhe Ozark are apreciated.

Thanks, Ocean

Shifting is a little notchy when it's cold but gets better as it warms up. The Ozark and the Recon are two very similar bikes. Generally, the Ozark has a little more......slightly larger engine, slightly more ground clearence and suspension travel, disc brakes in front vs drums on the Recon etc. It's enough so that if you compare the two side by side in a magazine shootout the Ozark will take the win. It's a good, peppy 250 and fun to ride. Works best if you are 6' or under in height.

I have some Z250's which are esentially the Ozark with a different frame.

They have had 2 seasons of SOLID work in a hire setup and I haven't had to do anything on the engines whatsoever! I change oil and filter regularly and spark, and I use a very good oil. The power plant is exceptional to say the least.

I think I should get the valve clearances done on them but they start fine and go really well.

FAR FAR better than any Yam I have ever owned and I 've had lots (Original Moto4's, Timerwolfs, Bear Trackers and Bruins)

The Honda Fourtrax I had was also very good but I' don't like drum brakes and I had to replace quite a few bushes and bearings. For me it would be:

1) Zook
2) Honda
3) Yam

I own an 02 Ozark and my wife has an 07 Recon. Both are solid machines and are pretty much eqaul. I would go with the one has the better Dealer.

Awsome Bike the Ozark 250...I bought one in 2003 and only had a jet clogg on me in the carb but it sat without being run for 6 months so not bad at all it takes a beating and keeps on tickin Great on gas too! plenty of power...I recently had a few friends buy there own because they would borrow mine and like it!

We have an 03 Ozark. My 2 sons worked it and it only required normal maintenance. No complaints at all it serve both of them and they both gave it quite a work out. I do have one problem with it now and it appears to need the rear differential repaired. (self inflicted from harse use)
If we had to do it over again, I wouldn't hesitate. Its a great machine.
I also rode the Recon.and logged about 3 to 400 miles on it. (a friends) That too is a great machine.
I don't think you can go wrong with either machine.
My personal preference is Suzuki because of the Ozark and a 3 other dirt bikes we owned at one time or another. No trouble with any of them. (that wasn't self inflicted)
Good luck deciding.

I have an 06 Ozark. It was my wifes and now it's my sons and never failed us yet!! All I do is service it when its required, no poroblems or breakdowns. It starts right up no matter what temp. it is outside!! In my opinion it is a best buy for the utility 250 class and a bulletproof machine!!!
