A lt500R can be a handful in tight trail conditions. This brings out two of the minor problems with the lt500r and that is the big turning radius and no reverse.

the question about what it takes to go 112 mph. all it takes is HP, gearing, and I have no guess on money except for a bunch. Also on ice lots of ice studs in the front and back tires.

I would only recommend going that fast on something flat like ice or pavement. Also sand takes more HP and I wouldn't like to spin a set of paddles that fast.

I don't know but I wasn't doing 100. It was in the 70s somewhere, just guessing. I have since dropped from a 42 rear to 38 and a 12 front to a 15. This should affect top-speed greatly. We'll see because I've also put a speedo on it.

Hey why don't you ride them both and see. The 500 is wide and turns a little wider than most but I don't know if it's all that much wider than a 250.

I had a 87 LT500 and now own an 87 LT250. BAck when I had the 500, my friends had a new (93) banshee and a modded to death 89 banshee. Neither could touch me in the low end, and they couldn't pull me on top. They called my 500 the Harley because of all the lowend torque. I could sit in 4th and pull as hard as them in 2nd. Banshees are really pipey (at least they used to be). They never had much low, but the mid/top would come on like gang busters. Also, tha banshee is a narrower bike and requires a different style of riding. you can throw it around with your legs in the whoops and rough stuff a bit easier than the 'zuki, but the banshee can't touch the 'zuki in suspension. I javen't gotten much time in on my 250, since I just got it Monday, and as all you michigan guys know...we have way too much snow for trail riding.
I have blasted up and down the driveway and around my yard, and it seems very capable and easy to work through the curves and turns. I studded a set of spyder tracks so I can get a little forward motion out of the thing too. I'll save the turf tamers for spring.
Anyone in MI know of some trails or a place to ride this time of year, holler and I'll be there

even though i own an LT 250 this answer will be completley unbiased. for duning get the lt 500 or banshee. for most other things get the 250. mine will outrun evrything from blasters to sramblers to 400EX's. it will be plenty fast. banshees are faster though but i don't like the way they handle and i don't like the way they jump. the same with the 500. the 500 is faster than the other 2 but the worst hadling (in my opinion) and its not that great of a jumper. all around the 250 is better. put a 295 big bore in it and you'll be untouchable! if you want to dune though go banshee or 500.

oh yeah i have found my wuadracer to be very very reliable. it takes a beating everytime i go riding (and usually when i'm not too) 500's aren't that reliable i hear. and banshees are ok.
