Default 1990 LT 4WD CDI Box

My 1990 Suzuki LT-4WD needs a new CDI box. The one one it is part number 32900-19B10. I thought I found a good deal on a new one but it turns out the box I received is not the one I ordered. What I received is 32900-19B00 which is for the 1989 mode. This one I received has two extra wires coming from the stator. Is there any way to use this box on my machine? Will it work if I ignore the two extra wires? Or can I tie them in to the other two wires to make it work on my machine?

Thanks,
Larry

That's a good question. The book I have says, "Wiring diagram for early models. Later models are not equipped with an ignition power source coil in magneto."

The green with white tracer and the black with yellow tracer are the pickup coil wires. The 3 yellows are the alternator wires. The ones you are missing just go to a coil by itself in the magneto.... they are black and blue with yellow tracer.

Try leaving them off and see if it will run. If not, your guess is as good as mine as to which wire needs to be hooked up to what. Sorry. But if you figure it out, let us know.

Thank you. I will try to make it work on Saturday and pass along the results.

After studying the wiring of both the 1989 and 1990 versions of this machine, I have figured out how to re-wire mine except for the power source. The power source for the later models is a positive 12 volt orange wire coming from the battery through the ignition switch. The power source for the earlier models comes from the magneto through the black and the blue/yellow wires. I can not just leave them off because then I have no source of power. I am afraid to hook up one of those wires to the orange wire because I do not understand the power from the magneto - probably not a constant 12 volts. Also, I do not know whether to connect it to the black or the blue/yellow wire. If I connect it to one, what do I do with the other?

I have decided it is too risky to experiment with. I do not want to ruin the new box. I will just list it on EBAY and buy the right one.

Sounds like a good call rather than guessing and taking a 50/50 chance.
