Yeah, my buddy's 250s (same as 230 basically) has NO compression. Zero! And it dumps his 250lbs *** off everytime he rides! You can set an empty beer can on the kicker and it will just about be enough weight to make the kicker sink to the peg. Tough to say how much oil it burns because it leaks everywhere, but its not hard to find him in a trail by the smell alone. How that thing makes the power it does is beyond my understanding.

The stock compression ratio is 9:1, so 10.25:1 is not a huge leap, but you're bound to get more power by getting the compression up as high as you can (especially on the low end).

On the stock muffler... Get another one off ebay. I hear the aftermarket ones are really loud (at least the cheap ones).

 

Hey everyone I just relized that the chain roller on my 87' Suzuki lt230 is gone. It's the rooler that mounts on the rear swing arm that the upper half of the chain rolls over. I found a replacement on Temeculamotorsports.com but its like $50. Anyone have any better ideas??? Thanks, Jonathan

Don't forget to rplace the swingarm bearings when you pull it apart. and add a chain tensioner.

 

Already bought the swing arm bearing kit, but what type of chain tensioner are you talking about???

I don't know.... My memory is pretty bad.... What were we talking about again??? Oh well.... It just so happens I have a catalog laying around here somewhere that I know has those tensioners in it. Its called JL ATV Products. They are kinda pricey if you ask me, but I haven't found them any cheaper since I bought mine a while ago.

Anyway, its called Universal Chain Tensioner - Most ATV's. http://www.jlatvproducts.com/ Scroll down and click chain tensioner. With shipping it will be $40. I don't know why the pic isn't coming up on their site. Here one of my pics. The tensioner is at the bottom right. You'll have to drill a hole to mount it. Don't think you can use an existing hole, it won't work right.

Yeah,,,, I didn't want to get into it with him... . Luckily, I thought of apple right away when he said "not meant to be tampered with". Kinda a throw back to the days when everybody was overclocking their pc's, etc and apple wouldn't let you do anything to theirs.
