Lt250r quadracer runs crappy
#12
150 PSI is awsome. that being higher than the stock 125 psi might be the reason for the cooler plug. meaning he might have had the head milled to higher the compression. I would stick with the 9 plug. for the time being just to make sure .yes the 200 jet will be the ticket. still look at the plug for a light brown to make sure that its not running lean. we have all been there with going to look at a quad and dreaming more than looking at it and buying it. getting it home and saying what did I do.

I had been shopping around for a bit and driving to look at some bikes. This one happened to be almost two hours away so my wife said "you better buy it!"
Im not blaming her though... I was in that trance.
Parts for these bikes (especially plastic) add up the price real fast. No regrets though... I learn a little every time.
Thanks for all your help. I do have one more question (at least for now). Should the plug be dry when I pull it out? Mine looks a little oilly and Im pretty sure that's not good.

after running the plug should be dry and a light tan or brown. so replace the plug. being wet means it is running rich. to much gas feeding into motor. making it smoke and run crappy. it idels ok becouse its a diffrent jet feeding it untill you crack the throttle. from 1/2 to full throttle its the main jet.

Im running 32:1 like most people recommend. The manufacturer says 20:1. I'd imagine that if my main jet was way too big it wouldnt be able to burn all the fuel too efficiently.

So I got the carb rebuild kit in the mail this morning. The stock jet was a lot smaller than the one in the carb. It now runs really good! Im surprised how much power a 250 can have!
