NEED YOUR ADVICE ON A LT 250
#2
for 850 there is probably something wrong with it.They usualy sell for around 1500. if you look at it and want to buy it check the frame for cracks! check around the A-Arms and the swingarm. Do a compression and spark check. See if the suspention works take it for a test ride if you can. As for stacking the LT250R against the TRX250R its all about personal prefrence. I like LTS over TRX'S. I like the handeling better it feels like it has alot more to the ground torque and top end speed! I way prefer the LT for jumping and manuvering around tight trails. But like I said it all on what you like. good luck with you purchase

first off Start it up an let it run for a few minutes while reving so you can feel where the flat spots are . if you can ride it Hit full speed in as many gears as you can and see how it feels. If its sucking air in any gear and the guys a mechanic it probably needs a rebuild. I would assume he has the air filter clean and the carb clean and dialed in corectly that should represent no problem. and like I said make sure you check the frame for cracks and weak spots. If the frame is strong and it runs you have yourself one hell of a deal!

Do maintenence checks as described above and ask all the questions you can, the more you ask the more he'll talk about the machine.
But if it is in good shape buy it, my girlfriend has one, she and I both love it. It has great power and looks awesome, also theirs a lot of things you can do to make them perform better.
GOOD LUCK!!!

What model is it? The later model LT's are a bit better than the '85-'86 models. But, for $850 bucks you can't hardly go wrong if it runs. Definately check the frame for cracks around the upper front shock mounts, the footpeg mounts, around the upper rear shock mount and take a hard look at the swingarm. Also check the a-arm bushings and the ball joints as well as the axle carrier bearings. Even if you find these flaws, I still think the quad is worth it as long as the motor is in fairly good shape. I have owned both LT's and TRX 250's. I find that the Suzuki gets out of the hole quicker and jumps a little better (it feels lighter in the air) but, the Honda definately handles better. I find the Honda is easier to turn and doesn't wear you out as much on the track. I still like the LT's though and still own a '92 model. Suzuki's are great quads, and are definately underrated. Hope this helps you out!
