1986 230s choppy had full throtle
#1
i have bought a used 86 230 sport, its totaly stock but has a d.g pipe on it, i uped the jets to 130 main, 25 piloet, it still backfires, and at full throtle it runs choppy, feels like its not getting enough gas, needle jet is set on third, some time throtle feels like it sticks but trigger is all the way back, at idle it seems like its racing, if i pull the chock up some it seems better.something is wrong, did i jet it to much, also should i try and turn piolet 2.5 turns out, the screw under the chock lever is fuel and air mix or the one with the spring? i can see this is going to be a weekend task!!!!! any help?????

How is your air filter???? The metal mesh thingy is NOT the air filter.... There should be foam over the metal thingy.
Its oviously running lean. You either have no air filter or you have an air leak somewhere.

did u do a plug chop? Hold third or 4 th gear wide open to where u would shift at full throttle and pull clutch and hit the kill switch , coast to stop pull the plug and check its color. White is lean black means rich and beer bottle color is close. just for kicks buy a 135 and 140 only out 10 bucks if it dont work
