Default Install winch on Suzuki Vinson

I am installing a Warn 2.5ci winch on my Suzuki Vinson and i there is a few places they give you to mount the contactor(also know as relay) in the manual. One place they give is on top of the rear storage box but, but i really dont want to have to take the whole backend off. It needs to be some place as dry and clean as possible. Any ideas on where to put it?

That's pretty much your only option but it still gets moisture in it. I had mine go out about a year after I bought it and that was the cause. Either way, hope you have better luck with your Warn than I have. Only used it maybe 5 times and it doesn't work anymore.

The only place that I have found on my quad that doesn't get wet is the storage compartment under the seat. This is where I placed my contactor.

Interesting. I was thinking that myself. Did you use hte factory winch wiring and just re-route it to the tool or other compartment under the seat or how did you do it?

Thank you in advance for your info!!

Yes, I just used all the wiring that came with the winch. It was plenty long enough to run it all the way to the storage box and back. I cut a small hole in the top of the storage box to run the wires through. It still stays dry in there.

Thank you very much. Just to clarify.. do you mean the storage area right under the seat or the rear storage box right below the tail light? Sorry to be thick, but I want ot make sure. I have gotten the rear under tail light storage box wet in not that deep mudhole, and I am a little worried about having the contactor in there as it may possibly stay wet for a while between times I actually open it up to get out the rubber bungee cords I store in there.

Thanks again for your info!!
