Default 1990 Suzuki LT250S help Needed

Hey guys;

So last week I finally bought my wife a sportier quad. I remebered these back in the early 90's and thought they were the one of the coolest quads around. Now I think that the power will be much better for my wife than a 2 stroke.

The quad is in great shape, except that it has a couple of minor problems:
1) Quad is extremely hard to start
2) Somewhere there is an oil leak (probably base gasket)
3) Wondering what the stock main jet was?

I was going throught the machine this past weekend, my biggest concerns are the hard starting issue, and the jetting. I took apart the carb to check if it was gummed up, and noticed it had 110 main jet in it. After I did get machine to start I took it for a 2 mile little run, seemed to run OK.
Later that night I was thinking about my oil leak thinking maybe I'll just rebuild whole top end????
I went out to my shop to do a compression test, it was at about 105 PSI. But I noticed that the spark plud electrode was turning white, like it was too lean???

Questions
1) Anyboday have any idea of what jetting I should be running (2200 ft)
2) Why this thing is soo hard too start? (105 PSI isn't too bad for a bone stock 4 stroke)

Any help would be appreciated

I am thinking that maybe do to the leaking seal (where ever it is) maybe that's what is leaning out the air/fuel mixture????

So i have found out that this machine came with a 110 main jet stock. Does anyone know what the factory setting for the air fuel mixture is?

Before you do anything else, check the valve lash.... Particularly, the intake valve. .001-.003 for the intake. .003-.005 exhaust. Let me know what condition the lash was in.

I wasted hours trying to tune a carb on one of those quads before I got around to the lash. The intake valve was never closing all the way. Intakes wear out because the air filter is not up to par.

The carb for the 250 is the exact same carb as the 230, except for the jets and needle. Everything is leaner in the 250 compared to the 230. My bud's 250 I put everything the way a 230 should be and it runs better. I'm at 600-700ft.
