I'm just nearing the end of rebuilding a 1984 LT 185 but during the process I had to discnect the lever for shifting into reverse. Now I don't knwo what gear I shold be in when selecting reverse? Does it matter? Do I just lift up on the lever? Any help is greatly appreciated - thanks.

 

if it is anything like the lt230 (i think it is) u gotta be in nutral for it to work

 

Thanks for the help. No danger being in neutral when I give it a try I guess. I noticed that a number of the LT185's for sale online are stuck in 2nd gear. Weird. Almost as if there is something about 2nd gear with this bike? I've heard of quads that needed to be in 1st gear to shift into reverse but never 2nd gear.

I have a 1985 Lt185 and it has to be in Neutral to shift to reverse.

i also have an 84 lt185 and you have to be in neutral to go to reverse.

 

i ALSO have a 1985 lt185 and yes u must be in nuetral
