Default New quad!

Hi everyone! This weekend was the Toronto international snowmobile/ATV show, and I went with my dad. I could either get a Raptor 350 or a Suzuki QuadSport LT-R 450 (limited edition black color also!), sorry, those were the best two suited for my needs that had GREAT prices on them.

We went with the Suzuki of course, it was supposed to be $9,999, on sale for $6,895 (it was an 08). We traded in my Baja 90 (finally!), and since the guy really wanted to make the sale, we also got a free 1 full year warranty (vs 6 months), and the cheaper of the skid plates (chain guard or under-engine protector, both are aluminum) for free. Total was about 7, maybe 7 and a 1/2 thousand I think.

The black looks AWESOME! They are wheeling it off the showroom floor so no one messes with it. We can pick it up on Wednesday (after school... sigh), I'm gonna get NO sleep until then! I also got a sett of PowerMadd Star hand guards and mounting set on sale at the Royal Distributing stand there. I want to get some Nerf Bars just to be on the safe side, I like the feeling of the floor there, but my dad says that they are unecssary and I dont need them. Ah well, maybe Christmas?

I guess it counts as my birthday present, since my birthday is in just under 2 weeks. BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER! I just need to learn to drive a manual.

You should like it a lot!But when you get on it don't act like a super hero this is absolutly extreme compared to your baja. This will be a totaly different experience. You will stall it and it will take a while to get used to riding a manual. If your gonna be riding trails a different set of tires and rims might be necessary. But hopefully with words of wisdom You won't kill yourself.Good luck

Thanks! I know not to act like a super hero, and that this thing is gonna be completely different than the baja. It took me at least a few weeks on the Baja when I first got it to even try to get above 30 km/h, so hopefully if I respect this thing the same way then I will be fine until I know the ins and outs of it, and how to work the clutch and transmission.

The tires look pretty good IMO, as the trails around my cottage are all sand trails, with some small jumps, so I think that this bike should be well suited to that. However, I know that there are other trails around there where different tires would be better suited. I'll just have to wait until next summer I guess to see how well the stockers perform up there.

I'm looking forward to the challenge though!

Wow! what a jump in ATV's. Enjoy the LT-R450. I just went today and picked up my 08 LT-Z400. All black special edition with brand new Bear Claw tires, and one year warranty, Thor Helmet, goggles, gloves, and boots. Its also brand new and I only paid $4681.20 for all after tax, title and tag.

Hey thanks! The LT-Z400 sounds awesome too, there was one at the show, but it had already sold! That's an awesome deal though! Enjoy it too!

i will enjoy. Been riding it all day. Enjoy not having Reverse. I could have got a LT-R450 and it would have been $3795.86 but I want my reverse. I do all trail riding.

On a side note, my father-in-law let his 13 year old daughter ride his 06 Grizz 660. Let me just say TURNS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE MADE AT 40 MPH!!!

Rolled like 9 times. She was unconscious for like 5 mins and all she got was a really bad bruse on her hand and a jammed middle finger. Lucky as hell. The grizz on the other hand it toast.

Hah, nice that you get to ride all day and I have to wait until Wednesday night just to take it for a spin up & down the driveway. I don't get how the LT-R could be THAT cheap... mind you I'm assuming your talking US dollars. Pretty amazing that a LT-Z400 would be more expensive.

I'm not used to having reverse, the Baja didn't have it, I'm used to pulling and pushing now anyways lol. I mostly do trail riding too (I know, why did I get an LT-R?), but the fact that the LT-R was (fairly) cheap and some of my friends have tracks near their cottages. Also, I've read that, like scrambler400 said, with a different set of tires, the LT-R can be a nice trail machine.

Haha, sucks for your father-in-law, her daughter, and especially the Grizz! When I was riding my dad's Outlander around our farm, and my friend was riding my Baja, I was SO careful taking turns with a huge tank like that! But man, my friend was on the Baja, going full speed up the driveway, and I let him have a 5 or so second head start and I caught up to him SO fast!

Edit: Haha, the thought of his daughter crashing reminded me of this video:

I think the 2 year difference had to do with the price. But when I bought it all he gave me $800 off the quad and 20% off all the gear. Plus tax, tag and title. My LT-Z400 wasnt brand new, it was 2 months used. But new enough.

This is what I could have bought......

There is alot of good deals on there. I mean 3995 for a Predator 500,TRX450 and a YFZ450. 2995 for a Raptor 660. I could have got alot of other things, but I love Suzuki and the Bear Claws sold it for me.

Oh, didn't know that it was an 06. That would explain alot lol! Your Z400 is really nice, congrats! The Bear Claws are pretty nice looking tires also, should be great on trails! There were also some pretty sweet deals on other bikes.

I just saw the new 09 LT-R Z450, man the 09 special edition is pretty sweet!

I love the gold frame parts, but also love the red decals of the 08.... ah well doesn't matter really. Plus the PowerMadd Star handguards I got are black/red to match the 08. If you don't have any handleguards I'd highly recommend the PowerMadd star's, although I haven't tried them yet, they feel very durable, have a 1 year warranty (you brake them in the first year and they get replaced), and the Star's have a removable piece so that you can vent air in during the summer! If you're using the Z400 as a trail machine I think they are pretty essential to have to avoid tree branches and such.

Sorry if that sounded like a huge advertisement, I just like them!
