LT-250 4WD Quits after 3KM
#1
I recently acquired a 1992 Lt-250 4WD with 6000KM. I've only put 12 KM on it. It starts very easily, but after riding it for about 3KM it won't idle and quits. Its a little hard to restart and requires a faster idle speed to keep going. If I don't keep the idle speed up it quits. It is then a little harder yet to restart. It then seems to need a yet faster idle speed to keep going and if not maintained will quit again. Etc, etc, etc. To the point that I'm afraid of killing the battery and / or the starter.
After cooling down it restarts easily. (And repeats.)
It is supposed to have a newly serviced carb, and I've drained and put in clean fresh fuel. I have the cooling fan turned on.
I've gone through Clymer's Service / Repair / Maintenance manual and can't seem to find anything that addresses the problem.
I don't know anything about its history.

Thanx fellows, just got back from a test run. Rode about 8km without a problem. I replaced the plug (old one was only slightly carboned up), changed oil and filter, put in a new air filter, and checked out the exhaust - seemed to be OK - but managed to damage the muffler trying to get the seized up plug out (even with lots of penetrating oil). --- Maybe the new hole in the muffler contributed to the quad running well??? Fuel vent hose was fine.
Thanx again
Richard
