LT230
#1
Im looking for some help here.. I have done some searches but failed to find what I need. It may be here but I havent found it.
I have a mid to late 80's LT230 that my father in law gave me.
It has been sitting for two years or so without being started.
It was locked up.. I got it freed up by spraying PB blaster into the cylinder and letting it sit overnight and then taking off the side cover and turning it with a wrench.
Here are my two problems...
First the carb is nasty.. it needs rebuilt.. where can I find a rebuild kit? The cheaper the better.
Second it does not seem like its getting the right spark.. what is the proper plug and gap? And what else would cause it to only spark like once every three kicks of the kickstart? I got the plug set at .028 gap which is the best I could find but it seems like it doesnt spark every time i kick it.. like once every three kicks.
If I spray starting fluid straight into the cylinder with the carb off it seems like it wants to fire but I still dont think the spark is right. Im new to this though so I am not sure... the only 4 stroke bike I have ever owned is my street bike and I have never had any issues with it so I am lost on what to do from here.. besides rebuilding the carb which I am gonna do when I find the parts to do so.
Any help is appreciated.. thanks a lot.
