We have an 02 with tons of miles and our clutch is starting to go. Maybe this is your problem?

Seriously!? Uh-Oh.

Im thinking either clutch or possibly not enough engine compression anymore?

Have you cleaned your air filter regularly? To prevent power loss, keeping the air filter clean is more important than changing your oil if you ride in dusty conditions.

If you are just losing power I'm thinking compression also not clutch.

Did the power loss happen gradually over many months or was it a sudden power loss? If it is more sudden, it might be a carburetor problem.

Sounds like the carb is messed up. This happened to me once after cleaning a carb it was the diaphram on the needle jet assembly. It was torn and not sliding up and down properly. With the air cleaner side of the carb of lift the sliding needle jet up while reving it and see if it revs better.

You may also be running your engine too rich. Are the carb screws set to factory settings?
