timimg chain replacement ?
#1
ok i got a 83 lt 125 , the timing rails are wasted, and th4e chain as slack init .
do i have to pull the side cover off the motor to replace it or does the new chain have a master link init.? where i can roll it in.?
i never pulld the stator off be4 looks like i need a spaecil tool right ?
and how do you go about reseting the tensoir? do i leave the blot i little loose so the spring can go back and forth .or lock to down after i screw in on?
thanks

First of all can you pick up the slack with new guides? There is no masterlink in the timing chain you'll have to split the case to do it, the stator can stay in the case. As for the tensioner you don't adjust it till you are putting it all back together. Once it's all in order you put a screwdriver into the tensioner turn it ccw insert the 2 bolts tighten them up and replace the bolt in the tensioner. Cylinder wear will be at the bottom, check the clearance in the middle of the stroke not at the top. Thats where you get a true reading.
