Default power prob - carb?

I am having an odd problem. Basically after riding for about 30 mins I lost power. The bike idles fine but when I give it gas it will die. I can go about 10 feet with the gas barely down and in 1st gear, stop and idle, go another 10 feet, etc. Happened when I was out in the woods working pulling a trailer so it was a major pain getting back out. I have read places that it could be a carb issue (clogged vent tube?). I ride a Suzuki Vinson 500 and have not looked at the carb - is it hard to get to work on? Any tutorials out there? Or, do you think it is something else?

Thanks for the help,

Man it sounds like fuel delivery for sure. I don't have a vinson so I cant comment on how difficult it is to get the carb off, but once you've got it off tear it down and soak it in carb cleaner - spray all of the passages out clean it up good and put it back together. Of course, before you get into that check things like fuel filter etc. If you think it might be a plugged fuel tank vent line take off the gas cap when the bike kills and if the plugged vent has caused a vacuum on the tank you'll hear the tank suck the fresh air in and the bike should run better.
