I did notice a difference when I was running regular 10w30 oil designed for automobiles, I noticed that the clutches started chattering alot more, and the centrifugal clutch engaged at a higher RPM.

Since I have returned to the OEM 10w40 oil, everything has returned back to normal.

I ran that back before I learned about this site, and the need to run the proper oil.

I believe you should stick to full sinthetic for ATV's if you are the kind of rider that doesn't like to change oil that regularly, otherwise you'll be fine with conventional ATV engine oil.

i have used alot of diff oils in my 4-pokes and in my banshee... so far over the years i like these, klots : Motorcycle TechniPlate®TC-2 , maxiima, redline and my favorite that i use in my motorcycle and now in all my 4 wheelers is royal purple, runs alot better and my motorcycle runs about 7-10 degrees cooler.
