the mikuni VM is a roundslide. the one that everybody seems to want (and the one that im pretty sure youre thinking of) is the TM28.

it should be bolt in, with the exception of jetting, of course. and you need a different needle too from what i understand.

good luck!

I just bought and installed a flat slide carb on my 230. Huge improvement and I was able to leave the carb set up just as it came, once I adjusted the mixture screw.

bought it from here, its the cheapest price I could find:

hi, i was debateing on if i should pick up 1986 LT230 becasue it was cheap. he says it runs but i cant imagine it runs too great. i am willing to put alittle money into this little machine. i dont really have any machanical knoledge but do want to expirement and learn. you said it does wheelys in 2nd gear, and the only reason i am hesitating on buying this is becasue i am not sure it will have enough power? i am about 6 foot, 170 pounds. do you guys think this can drag me around?

oh it will have plenty of power to drag you around.

much more than a 250ex, and about the same as a mojave, blaster, or 300ex.

but the best part is the insane torque. tons of lowend. so it will get you up to speed very fast.

Yeah,
I agree, I'm 225lbs and my 230 takes off and I'm in fifth gear in a hurry.

I had a question on jet sizing for my 230. It has a .060 over Wiseco piston and new valves. This thing has a custom ground white brothers cam in it as well. It revs up extremely fast but it struggles to idle at a low rpm.how agressive the cam is if that is the problem with idle or if I need bigger jets. Right it has a size20 primary jet and the main jet is the original. I have the needle set on the 3rd notch(stock). I guess my question is that I'm not really sure how to go about determing the jet size to go to or how I know if it is running to lean.
Any help would be great!

I bought a Moose carb rebuild kit for it that was looked up as stock at my local cycle shop and it worked great-all new parts identical to old
