Default It's up and running again

Mine just came from the mechanic again

got the cases all welded and strengthened
got a case saver engineered and installed

it's awesome, does wheelies on wet grass

but it blows smoke
mechanic thinks there is supposed to be a restrictor in the oil passageway, to lower oil pressure.....
the rings are fine, the compression is fine
the gaskets are all new
the valves are fine
the valve guides are fine
the valve seals are new

anyone heard of this?

Yeah, oil rings are bad and/or the cylinder is worn out of round due to piston flopping around on rod and rod flopping around on crank. I bet if you tear it down you'll find the wrist pin will wiggle in the small end of the rod and that the rod will wiggle on the crank. You can dump $250 into a bore job and get another season or two out of it before the same problem will happen again. Otherwise you'll need to replace the rod and bearings. Your crank may be bent too. Suzuki corrected these design flaws in 89 and 90 in the 250s version with a bigger and longer rod.

Wow I can't believe this threads still going. I forgot about it. I just found it because I googled stock LT230S compression ratio because I could remember what it was. I'm gonna sell the ATV now. Here's a video of what it's like. YouTube - Suzuki 1985 LT230S
