Thumbs up Just picked up lt80 for $100.00

I just picked up an 88 LT80 for 100.00 and the guy said the motor was blown up. it has brand new tires on it and he just put a new belt on the clutch along with new reeds and a few other goodies. He said his son wanted to ride it so he put some gas in it and off he went. well it doesn't have the oil injection on it so it fried the motor. I was wondering if you all thought it might have also fried the rod bearing or if it might be worth it to rebuild the top end and see if that fixes it? is there any way to tell if the rod bearing is gone? The rod moves up and down like it should but I just don't know if it would be worth it.

how much side-to-side play is there at the small end? i dont mean side-to-side play on the crankpin, but actual "wobble" from side to side. and, does the lower rod bearing turn smooth?

if all looks good with the bottom end, i'd just go for a bore, piston, topend bearing, and rings. maybe crank seals too

for 100, thats a dam good deal my friend!

That is one heck of a deal. Even if you have to do the bottom end, you still got a good deal.
