LT80 Starting problems..
#1
Hi all,
I have a late 90's LT80 that has starting problems.. If it sits for more than 24hrs the motor "locks up" and I have to keep hitting the starter button till I can get it to turn.. then it turns it locks up again etc.. Once I can get a dozen or so revolutions she spins free and now seems like its flooded out and cranks for a long time till it fires.. Once it fires it smokes heavy for a while.
Is it possible that oil is leaking down and filling the cylinder? Maybe I should try pinching off the lines overnight? is this a common problem with the LT80s?

Your motor is filling with fuel.
I'll cut to the chase (instead of a long boring petcock reply)....Go to autozone and get cheap on/off valve (about 3 bucks in the lawn mower section). That should take care of it.

Thanks.. will do! I figured out it was fuel this morning.. one I finally got it cranking over she was pushing fuel right out of the exhaust! I could not believe how much!! I definity need to get a cutoff in there soon.. I dont like the motor being washed out like that!
