I see on the Thumper Forums where the DRZ125 guys are using 185 Cylinders, Cyl heads, LT230 Camshaft and so on and it got me thinking. What parts interchange with the LT185? Will an LT230 camshaft be a direct bolt in replacement for the 185 cam?

My son has one that we are building up for some Midwest Barrell Racing next summer and these old junkers are pretty competitive in the 200cc under class. I had one when I was younger and it had a Web cam, larger valves, stiffer valvesprings, big carb and so on and I could whip 200X Hondas all day. We widened the front suspension and built our own rear wheelspacers. This was a father and son project back then, and is with a virgin Lt185 now. So, let me know what parts interchange with other Quads and Cycles if you would.

 

well the (a)lt125, (a)lt185, lt230s/e, ltf250, lt250s, and even the new ltz250 are all based on a very similar engine framework. parts interchangeability is very high and it wouldnt surprise me if the cams do interchange.
