I recently fried the Regulator on my 96 Suzuki LT 250 4X4 quadrunner. I bought a new Regulator and put on it and it started and runs fine. The parts shop told me to check the voltage going into the battery and it should be about 13. Mine is 18.

I was then told the Stator might be bad and the AC output on it should be around 24. How do I check the Stator output? I unplugged the regulator and checked the black and red wires from the wiring harness that are going into the regualtor and am getting around 34? Is this acceptable to checking the Stator? Where is the Stator located? What is the CDI box and does my ATV have one? Could this be bad?

the stator is behind your flywheel I'm not familar with that bike, it should have cdi box they all have cdi's some are built in with voltage regulators but I think most japanese bikes or quads in your case have their own cdi boxes I think you bought a bad voltage regulator that what controls the volts going into your battery there is ways to check them with a multimeter but not sure but not sure of the spec,s.If yor planning keeping the quad i would recommend a service manual they have testing procedures and specs. almost noone will take back electrical componentsyou might ask on here how test and the specs hope this helps
