Default Vinson problem

I have a 06 vinson with low miles, parked it about a month ago and went to use it today and it wouldn't start. I pulled the plug and managed to get it running but only with the choke on, when speeding up the motor it also backfires, and will not idle. It was fine when parked earlier and don't really want to take it to the dealer.

Time to pull the carb, completely disassemble and clean every port, jet, etc.

Thanks guys, I decided I will just take it to the dealer. Not much time to deal with it right now, just didn't want to take it in because of the 2 hour drive. Oh well, they can deal with it.

It would take less than the 2 hour drive to clean the carb. First try runnig the pecock on PRI. .Then try pulling the fuel line from the carb and turn the petcock to PRI. Gas should flow free. Take a spay can of carb clean and a soft wire and spray into where the fuel line hooks on the carb. While spraying swish the soft wire around. There is a screen in there that can plug. Good time to install a filter in that line. You can drain the float bowl with the carb still on the quad. There is a drain screw at the bottom of the bowl. Just loosen it a few turns to drain. You can loosen the carb boot and turn the carb sideways to remove the float bowl and clean all the jets.

i wont use fuel stabilizer in my fuel. the fuel stabilizer eats brass. be very careful. i had to machine a float valve seat for a mojave for a customer once. it was either that or pay 450 for a new carb cuz u cant buy the seat from kawy.
