Default DIY LT-Z50 Seat Cover

I bought a 2006 LT-Z50 a month ago from the original owner. He didn't keep really good care of the plastic or seat to say the least. The engine and all the mechanics run great, so I'm really happy with that.

Got it for a steal at $750 with a clear title. My wife wasn't too happy with how it "looked". I advised her that was the least of my concerns, but also that I'd start working on making it look nicer just for her.

I bought some new vinyl at Joann's Fabric and some adhesive and took my seat to a local upholstery shop and they wanted $125 to stretch and staple the vinyl on that I purchased myself. Forget that.

So, I rented a staple gun from Home Depot and did it myself. Total cost was $29.00 for all the supplies and staple gun rental. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Took about 20 minutes once I was ready (remove old crap and staples) to start. I went with the black vinyl because I'm planning on blacking out the rims and front bumper. I've already hand-sanded the front bumper and blacked it out. Looks much better. Next up, the rims will be getting blacked out as well. I'll post pictures later.

I've been working on the plastics now, as well. They were in horrible shape. Very dry and brownish. I've looked and read a ton about how to refinish them. I think I'm on to something, it just takes a lot of time. But so far, it's looking great. It won't look perfect, but that's what new decals are for.

Thanks for looking.

Default More pics

Here's some more pics of the bike after I changed out the plastics, painted the rims and front bumper and added two new rear tires. I have some after-market decals I'm gonna put on next.
