Default Finally getting started -engine question

Hello all,

Fourteen years ago I took my '87 230 Q Sport apart with the intention of doing a complete restoration. I had the frame repainted, the front arms repainted with new bearings installed, and then went into a deep sleep.

Well, today I pulled it all out and started laying the parts out to pick up where I left off.

My question is my engine. Not thinking it would be 14 years I drained the oil. I did work the kick starter occasionally for the first 5 years or so just to make sure it didn't seize. I tried it again today and it still moves.

Is there anything I should do besides adding oil with a new filter before I fire it up?

I did buy a new DG pipe, and I intend to do the standard engine mods and add a rack, twist throttle, etc.

FYI - I saw a post about improving the light output. Back when I started this I remember talking to a company called Ricky Stator in California about bumping up the output. He told me to buy different bulbs first - do the stator if that wasn't enough.

I will no doubt be on this site quite a bit. I am pretty excited about getting back into the sport.

Thanks for any input you might have.
