Default Suzuki Lt80

Ok, I have a 2000 Suzuki Lt80 that I bought from a guy a few weeks ago. He told me he bought it with a bad top end and he replaced it. He couldnt get it to start and thought it was a fuel problem. I bought it and it has great spark i rebuilt carb and put it new reeds. It has good compression and I took off topend to be sure he rebuild it and everything was good and new. It turns over but wont hit a lick! Even on starting fluid. Thinking timing......Any ideas and does anyone know how to time Lt80? I know someone told me it has a reset on it somewhere but wouldnt it not have spark if that was the case?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Phil

Default update!

I got the side cover off and realize that the keyway if fine and not sheered. Which is one of the suspisions I had. The bottom magnet on the stator had been gettingwet and was covered in rust. Not sure this is the problem but Im gonna clean it up today and see what happens!

Cleaning/sanding the stator has helped before.

He probably put the piston in backwards, the arrow should face the exhaust

Default .....

I tore the topend off and it was all correct and yes the arrow was facing towards the exhaust valve.
