Default 2006 Suzuki eiger 400 starting issues?

I just got a new to me Suzuki bike with around 2000 miles on it and sometimes it will start but most of the time it makes a clicking noise in the thing between the battery to the bike it's like a little cdi looking thing... Also is it ture that if I push the bike and then put it in first it will start up like it's sorta jump starting the bike? Sorry for the dumb questions newbie to this bike and quads in general. We had a few swamp buggies and I traded one for this bike. Thanks guys

Sounds like a starter solenoid to me. Never had that problem on any of my quads. Hopefully someone will chime in that has.

Your battery is bad. You need a new one.

Does it do it if you use the pull starter? As in crank up with no problems?

First thing to check is connections to the battery. Clean up the cables and battery terminals. I had a Koadiak 450 that did the same thing just by having the terminals come a little loose.

My bass boat would do the same thing. For some reason the wingnut on the batteries would loosen. Maybe road vibration? What I did is buy some clear fingernail polish and coated the threads. Holds like locktite, but easy to break free if you need to. Clean your terminals real well. Try to keep the polish off the flat bottom of the wing nut. I haven't had any conductive problems in almost 2 years doing that.

I also used that trick on my gun holder that fits to the rack. I have two of those "U" things that a gun goes in to. Had four bolts. Two on each attachment were nylon locknuts and two were just regular nuts. The regular ones would come loose and the "U's" would pivot while riding. Clear polish fixed it right up.
