LT230 Project

the one on the right has the indention's because most likely the valves were slapping up against the piston. could be timing issue or bad valve guides. could also mean the possibility of foreign objects somewhere ins the crankcase. i would definitely look into it before that engine gets fired up. maybe split it or flush it just to make sure.

Oh really? I know 4 stroke snow blower engines have a flat top like the left one. The one on the right docent seem that bad except for a tad bit of bending on one of the skirt edges.

if they both measure 66mm they are 230s pistons. but they both seem to bet the same so i would say they are 230s pistons. one is a high compression and the other is stock. no way did one of them come out of a 2 stroke.

Yeh, I realized that after I posted it, thats why I re-posted the exact same answer above you. One is oem and one is aftermarket.

the one on the right can be saved though. a slight grind work and polish and add a new set of rings, good as new. the one on the left i think is too scared up. looks like a piece of the ring broke off and scored it bad. i would hate to see the cylinder wall that piston was in.

hey pink are you experienced with clutches on the lt230 models that have the centrifugal clutch? i unnecessarily took off the release plate on my clutch when i split the case o clean out piston debris. i didnt pay attention to how tight the bolts should have been and now i cant tell if the tranny is shifting right. when i put the plate back on i tightened the bolts all the way down. heres the oem diagram
