an insider on another bulletin board i visit has seen the suzuki boys at a track in california testing a prototype thumper mx bike. the engine looked similar to the drz400 engine but slightly bigger (461-ish?) & definitely burlier sounding from what he said.... they may have pics up soon.

if that rumor is true, there's your engine.

Come on man, so what if I haven't ridden a quad, and I have ridden many quads, a buddy of mine used to race MX and flattrack in wisconsin.I have ridden every high performance quad from the 250R to a LT250R chassis with a snowmobile motor in it.

IF WHAT I HEARD THROUGH SUZUKI CHANNELS ARE TRUE IT WIL BE A 500 CC FOUR STROKE. AS FOR THE ZILLA'S RELIABILITY I HAVE OWNED ONE SINCE 87 AND CURRENTLY HAVE 2 WHICH DAMN NEAR NEVER LET ME DOWN AND THEY GET RIDDEN FROM PA TO CA FROM THE SAND TO THE WOODS. IT IS ALL ABOUT MAINTANCE AND UPKEEP.

The boys at Suzuki probably(hopefully!) came to realize that a 400 is only going to keep up.I'd put my money on larger than 400,,at least 500cc.I don't know about anybody else, but I'd sooner buy a quad that beats a 400EX tyhan just keep up.It also seems like its taking awhile to get this new machine out,,,like they had to make some changes like a bigger engine.

King i was thinking the same as you, it is strange how before the raptor was released suzuki was to bring out a new sport quad. Then when the raptor was released the suzuki suddenly was put forward another year. This makes it obvious to me that suzuki was to release a 400cc sport quad and now have decided to up the engine size to compete against the raptor. Lets face it if you are going to buy a new quad you want to buy the best and now 400cc quads just dont do it.
