Default 87 LT230E Shocks?!?

Well I have looked aorund and found a few sets ranging from $500-$700 and to be honest the poor old quad is not worth that. Don't get me wrong its a good old quad but the lil ole lady would kill me if I spent $700 on a 4 wheeler I just traded work for. So the research started. The LT230E has a front shock that has 12" front center of one eye to the center of the other eye. 10mm shock mount holes. Did a little looking and found a few chineese knock off shocks that would fit but I want something that will last and not break the bank. Contacted ACJ Racing on Ebay and good luck getting anything from them. I am a N2 ATV Parts dealer and dug into the book. I came up with shocks that fit a 95-01 and 03 Honda TRX400FW Foreman. Same length eye to eye and same size bolt holes and at a whopping $35 retail price I am game. Bought two of them and they came in this morning. Tonight I should be able to take them home and post on there if they fit without a hitch. The only thing I am worried about it the width of the shock mounts. I didn't really check that and I know I should have. I will tear it apart tonight and maybe take some pictures and post them tomorrow. FInally there is some hope of getting some reasonable LT230E front shocks! Next up rear shock.

News update. Installed the shocks. Same length same hole size but the steel bushing in the shock was barely to long. Shaved a tiny bit off each bushing and the shock bolted right up. The ride is much better but it makes me wonder if I should upgrade to a little longer shock so I would have more suspension travel before my shock bottoms. I will ride tonight and jump it a little and see how the new shocks work out for me.

So I rode it last night. The honda shocks are smaller in diameter but was much better Than the worn out sorry excuse for shocks the quad had on it. Only bottomed it once as I jumped the poor old bike about fifteen feet in length not high! I may try the inch to inch and a half longer but I was happy with the Honda shocks other than they are not adjustable! FOr the money who cares as long as they work good. Goin to play some more tonight. I have a Blaster I may check and see if the shocks off it will fit. I think they were like 13.5" long and look like they have 10mm holes. I am just glad the quad doesn't sound like it is breaking every time I land it.

i would've got a set of lt250r front shocks myself. they are a nice cheap upgrade and the handling will make you hate the 230 front shocks. those 250r shocks can handle anything that you throw at it.

Guy with the LT250R shocks, what year did you use? I see brand new 93-01 LT250R shocks on Ebay for $89.95 each . Not to shabby.

i would get a set 85-88 year range. 93-01 not to sure but i think suzuki changed the front end on the 250r after the 1990 production line. the 85-88 years, i know they fit right on. also if you get them set the preload collar to the lowest setting. i weigh about 190lbs and they never bottom out on me and i corner like a champ. i can out corner a pair of Elka front shocks on a blaster in the woods trail riding.
