I focused a little on the electrical last night. I found out I have a bad battery (charges to 12v, but won't put out any power). I had another small 12v laying around, so I managed to jump the starter directly. I backed up to the solenoid and jumped the posts, which fired the starter. The start switch however, is not engaging the solenoid.

How do I test the solenoid? Could it be a bad start switch (and how is that tested)? The previous owner cut the reverse wires (which I found reverse switch/sensor and will replace soon). Would this affect starting?

If he did not ground the wires right, it would prevent the start button from working, (reverse safety switch), on mine there is also a 4 prong relay, I had to check mine with a ohm meter, to see if both were working, 1 is open and 1 is suppose to be closed. the open one closes, when the turn key is turned on.

It took me a few weeks, tinkering everyday to get my wiring working, it was not all that fun,. allot of trial and error and patience on my part. My fuse connector, I evently found the prongs were just a tad dirty with white powder type oxide, needed cleaned. even though my fuse was good, my fuse holder connection was one of my issues. that was preventing my start button from working. I even took apart the bush button start button and cleaned all inside of there, which was a real pain.

I had even took the neutral safety switch off and cleaned it all up and checked the wires, to make sure they were reading like they should with my ohm meter.

I made the mistake of starting up front, turn key, ect. I should have started with battery and solenoid area, I would have found the poor connection at the fuse area. but when i checked the fuse and seen it was good. I asumed I was getting juice all the way up front and I was not.

Because I started in the back and was just stumped for so many days. thinking it was something else, but i was not super good at electrical

I gave up at one point, got a universal turn key ignition and wired right to the battery / solenoid and mounted it in the plastic up front on the side of the plastic, and it would turn over, and start, but I had no lights. that got me riding and running, until I played more with the wiring.

I'll go through the wiring and run some resistance tests tonight. Can someone tell me which color wire goes on what connector (L & R) on the solenoid? I disconnected the two small wires and don't rememeber which side was which. Not talking about the starter lead cable and the battery pos cable, it's the two smaller wires (one is an ignition lead, the other a ground).

The two smaller wires. one might be black and a small yellow line or something on it. that goes to the right,. (the same side at the ground for the battery, post.

thwe other small terminal should be the left side, the same side or right next to the pos terminal for the battery. Mine is yellow with a small line on it, I forget that color.

My colors are likely different than yours though.
