2003 Eiger 400

Okay, so i put the new carb in and it'll start if you place your hand over the carb, turn it over, take your hand off and it'll fire up but then run out of fuel and die. There is a small hole on the bottom of the carb. on the bowl that has nothing attached to it and im wondering if it needs to have something attached?

The rear drum brakes on the Eigers have a weak seal that allows mud and water into the drum. This is like putting grease on the shoes. I have had mine apart and cleaned it many times only to have it do it all over again. I won't spend the money for a new drum because it will do the same thing. I believe you can take the disc setup off a straight axle Vinson and put it on the Eiger as a more permanent fix. The second issue with the drums on the Eigers, which it sounds like you may have since you have a sloppy brake handle is that the lever that goes through the back of the drum and is supposed to turn when you compress the handle gets stuck. Take a rubber mallet and tap (backwards/down) on it and see if it moves and tightens the handle up. If so you can take the drum apart, tap that through from the inside out, grease it, and put it back in. This is a lot of work for a brake setup that is shitty from the factory! I have to tear mine apart and drain the drum after my last ride before winter or the water in the drum will freeze and essentially lock up the quad if it gets too cold in my garage...I learned my lesson when I went to plow the first winter and my quad wouldn't move until I put my heater under the drum. Good luck!

Regarding the back brakes. Yes, they pretty much suck. I bought a new aftermarket seal from QuadBoss for $35 and that seems to help. The stock replacement is expensive, like $75. ONce the rear pads wear down even a little bit, your brakes suck, even with adjustment. Just a bad overall set up. I've had mine apart several times. YOu can take the arm off the hub and move it on the splines to get a little more adjustment.
