Default 2003 suzuki eiger carb. problem fixed!

I havea 2003 suzuki eiger 400. I was having carb problems. Had to ride with choke on, sputtering, shutting off like it was starving for gas. I cleaned carb many times. Had 3 diff. people look at it and tried trouble shooting it but no luck. I was ready at this point to throw in the towle on this bike. Carb was in great cond. So I decided to just try putting a size bigger jets in it. Problem was solved!!! No back firing, dont need choke rides great! The jets they used on it were to small. Now on the petcock you do have to ride it on "resever" cause the "on" is like "off" gas dont want to flow through it. My petcock is fine just another goofy thing from suzki. I hope this helps anyone with the same problems.

congrats. glad you got it going. just curious...have you had this quad a while or did you recently purchase it? if a fairly new purchase, where did it come from? i was wondering if the jets were changed due to altitude changes or not. i was just wondering why the wrong jets were in there to begin with. no biggie, have a good'en!

I purchase it from a friend and it was her fathers. it has only 175 miles on it. He didnt drive it much but around his property. He has since passed away he purchased it in ga. near the florida border brand new. Suzuki replace the in 2005 for what reason I dont know. I had ran out of every other option and just tried this for giggles and it worked. I just got back from the woods riding and it rides great!

I purchase it 2 months ago with the carb problems. so I knew I had to fix the carb not knowing it was going to drive me crazy causr I have had it to 3 people and they could figure it out. I was about to buy a new carb until I got curiuse to see if bigger jets would cure it. I put them in and walla there ya go...it runs like bran new )

I have a 05 an did the same thing, I also clipped about three lengths on the throttle spring in the carb, feels like a new quad. Clipping the spring increases throttle response.
