Question 1997 Kingquad Problems?

I just got a 1997 Suzuki Kingquad from a friend. The quad has sat and was not started for awhile. When I got it I pulled started it and it fired up,but ran like crap. I drained old gas and cleaned carb. It was running better but still would not idle and had to have idle adjustment all the way in. I power washed it quick and this is where the major problems began. I flipped the quad up on the backrack (in a wheelie position). I washed the bottom and was careful of all electrical connections. I put the quad back down and went to start it. It was very hard to start and would run for a few seconds and then bog and die. If I let it idle, the idle gets really high within 5 secs and then it dies. It seems like a fuel problem to. So I cleaned out the carb again, but noticed that there was no fuel in the bowl of the carb. I cleaned the jets again but the carb was still spotless inside from the last cleaning. I read that it could be the fuel petcock so I took it off and soaked it in carb cleaner. It ran slightly better. So do you guys think it could be electrical or fuel related. How can I check and see if it is electrical? Thanks

Here is where I think the problem is. I tried to run it with the fuel petcock on prime postion and the same thing is happening. So I think that it is not getting fuel. I take the fuel line off the fuel petcock, and put fuel petcock in prime postion. This means that gas should freely flow out right? Well it does not, so I think that the fuel petcock is messed up. Then on the fuel petcock there are two lines, one that is a vacumm line that goes directly to the carb and then the fuel line that runs to another piece that looks to be some sort of fuel pump. So should the fuel petcock spit out fuel when in prime postion? IF it should then I found the problem. If not then it could be fuel pump right?

If your not getting fuel to the carb, make sure that you dont have the fuel and vent lines crossed. Since carbs run on vacuum once they the engine is started.
