Ok so I have a 00 LT80 and yes I do have the service manual but can not figure out how to seperate the crankcase I do have a crank case splitter but on page 3-16 of the manual it says remove starter driven gear and key. I can't figure out how to pull the key out. Is there a tool I need? I tried needle nose pliers but can not get a grip on it.

 

The key don't have to come off. It's below the bearing/seal surface.
I use a pin ***** and jamb it in the end and pry it out.
Case separation tool====hammer...LOL
You'll need advise on getting it back together ..with a straight crank that is.
Done this before?
