Default 87 suzuki lt230e quadrunner- timing issue!

ok i have an 87 suzuki lt230e quadrunner and i just recently put new valve seals and piston rings in it, and i didnt really study up on the timing thing but i just marked the chain and gear with a marker hoping it would line back up. When i put it all back together it starts just fine but about half throttle or if u hold the throttle in a set position it cuts out/misses. so i believe i messed up the timing! does anyone know how to fix the timing? i could really use some advice/directions on how to time it back properly! thank you

The timing marks are on the cam and should be parallel to the head at TDC like this

And you can't have it 180 degrees out because the plug fires every TDC.

It can't be 180 out of time because the plug fires every TDC. So, it doesn't matter if the lines are flipped the other way.
