Default Tire bead

A couple days ago, I had my KingQuad 700 out on a trail. I ran over something and heard a "pop" sound. Like I had punctured a tire. I was barely moving 1 or 2 mph at the time. I soon noticed that I had very little tire pressure in my right rear tire. Babied it back to my truck and got it loaded on the trailer. I got a better look at it and found what looked to be a small cut. So I assumed I had a puncture. Got it home and put about 20 psi in that tire and put some leak test fluid on the spot and it did not bubble at all. So I figured I did not have a puncture. As the fluid ran down the side of the tire it spread out where the rim meets the tire and it bubbled up big time. So I new then that I had a bead problem. When I took it into my local shop, he said I just blew a bead and they re beaded the tire, I also had them put in some Quadboss tire sealant in all 4 tires as well.

My question is.....is blowing out a bead on a tire a common problem? I believe the tires are original on this quad. 2007 KingQuad with 2275 miles on it. I am a new 2nd owner. They are not radial tires either. I do plan to replace them with radials down the road.

I have owned several Suzuki's including 2 king quads. I have never heard of that particular problem before. I have had some air leaking around the bead before, all I had to do was clean the bead and reseat it and all was good. I would chalk it up to bad luck.

I have only ever seen one bead pop and I been riding for about 15 years. It was just a perfect hit sideways on the tire right where it touches the rim and there was a fair amount of speed involved. We thought that was crazy that it popped the bead even then. You'll probably never have it happen again.

If you haven't ever had a bead pop off, you haven't been riding hard enough!

Yep, I've seen it happen more than once myself.

Well, it sounds like it is something that just happens, but let's hope it's few and far between. From what I have read, the Quadboss tire sealant will help this senario as well.
