LT160 hard start and midrange throttle issues
#1
Hey guys just joined the forum after lurking for a while. I have an '89 lt160e that I can only start with ether when cold and it idles fine when warm. It will choke out when given throttle. I can work it a little and get it to rev after a while but it still bogs down in the midrange.
I have rebuilt the carburetor with oem jets per the service manual,
checked the float height per manual,
checked and adjusted valve clearances,
adjusted cam chain tensioner,
changed the oil and filter,
replaced the battery,
checked resistance over ignition coils,
checked spark at plug (it was blue),
and replaced the spark plug.
I have not checked the timing. I currently have the cdi off to check resistance. I am getting no readings across several of the terminals.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

LT80, thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that I checked the compression and was reading 180 psi after 6 rotations.

I would be looking at the float.
Is the float full of gas, or if it's plastic has it absorbed gas over time?
Also, when you set the float height, try setting the height where it first makes the needle seat into the valve. Don't set the height where the float rests freely when the carb is turned upside down. It's easiest for me, if I hold the carb upright when I'm setting the float height.
