Gee, you must have missed this eh...
My Dr. buddy had a 660. He sold the overweight, underhandling, slug for a beautiful TRX450R. He said that he wished he did that long ago.
Clearance is not a problem as he/we woods ride.
10 hr oil changes...You don't have to but then again, why wouldn't you want to?
My daughter changed the motor and tranny oil after every race. A lil overkill but she raced trouble free whilst others wrench.
The Z400 is a fine machine and IMO much better than the 660. The TRX would be a step up from the Z.
Nice price on the 450 too.

Sure all the 450 race ATVs can make 45hp but its a stressed out motocross motor with the same rebuild time frames involved that 450 motocross motorcycles have .
I go do motocross races every weekend and know what's involved.

A 700 Raptor for example makes 45hp also but it can do it lazily at much lower RPMs without the rebuilds schedules.
You do not get that kind of power out of a 450cc without paying for it somewhere.

Sport ATVs are no big around here due to their low ground clearance and 2wd not cutting it on our rugged trail systems.
But if I did have one I would chose a 45hp lazy big bore over a stressed out 45hp mid bore.
Plus a 450 can never have the low end torque of a big bore.

Like the saying goes "There's no replacement for displacement".
