660 raptor vs ltz 400

660=42hp
400z=34hp
The 660 will also have more low end torque like all big thumpers have. Even if you can mod a 400 to 42hp it will never have the torque, that come only from displacement.
Kinda like a 1300cc Harley, they may only have 70hp but they can take off from a dead stop in 3rd gear from idle but 100hp 600cc rice rocket can't.
That's torque vs hp.

HP isn't everything. I like the 660, but a Z is a better choice for just about anything a proper sport quad should be able to do. Jumping, sliding, slicing and dicing down a tight trail are all more enjoyable on the Zuk. There is also that pesky power to weight ratio. Stock, my little 439cc, 39hp YFZ beat mostly stock 660's in drag races repeatedly. The Z even has a few GNC MX titles under it's belt running the Yoshi 450 kits. They can be made fast. For the record, I never can get over how much more you guys in canadialand have to pay for some stuff!

The 01 Raptors had tranny problems, but other than that, they aren't any worse than most of the other quads out there.
A lot of times, on any machine, problems can be traced back to poor maintenance and abuse. It's easier for some to say a machine is a piece of crap than to admit they just didn't take care of it.
