I will say without putting a volt meter on it, I do think the headlights are a little brighter than they should be. I'll have to look into that the next time I get to work on it.

This is a very common issue in these which is why I say it's the regulator. Mine was making like 17 volts before I replaced it. I had a few of those fins on the front plastic broken on mine and so I managed to swap it without pulling the plastic. Lol. I think I bought my new regulator on eBay for $65 or so. That was after I bought two used ones off eBay that also were bad. Lesson learned there...

You guys hit the nail on the head. I started it with the volt meter attached and it had to crank for a solid minute since my choke is questionable. After it started, I held it up around 2500rpm and watched the volt meter rise up to 17 volts. It started shitting all over itself and sounding like a turbo car with 2 step launch control. I turned on the headlights and knocked it down to 14.5-15 volts and it smoothed right up.

I agree Cummins. I only buy new when it comes to electrical nonsense such as this. I'll be ordering that one on ebay momentarily

Thanks for the help guys. I think this thread is just about complete.
