My 4x4 is going in and out even though the lever is disengaged. I have heard this is a common prob. It is making a loud clanging noise from the tranny or differential occaisionally too. Like it used to do sometimes when it came out of 4x4. any help or ideas appreciated if it can be fixed w out taking to the dealer. new member. thanks.

 

The cable can stretch causing the 4WD to engage when the lever says 2WD. It can be adjusted as there is a "mid cable adjuster" below the handlebar lever box. It is at a really stupid place so adjustment is awkward. Jack the front wheels off the ground and spin them by hand as you adjust to ensure you get the mechanism working right.

 

thanks for info, was able to fix myself. My dealer wanted me to bring it in after describing what it was for a min $80 fee , probly more. gosh, glad I am back on the forum again after several years away. thanks again!!
