Default lt80 keeps flooding

rebuilt carb, new pet ****, set float to factory sepc. height and even set float very low still floods motor, fills crank with gas, has to have plug pulled out and crank motor and raw gas shoots out of spark plug hole in head, after carb rebuild and float set to factory height, flooded right away, put in non adjustable 87 lt 80 float and it flooded, set float very low and it was good for 3-4 days and ran great, now on the day 5 its flooded again, both floats do not hold gas, no leaks. gas comes out of choke plunger **** when pulled up. going to install a lt160 pet ****, non vac. type.

You can buy a 1/4" plastic inline fuel shutoff from any auto parts store for about $6 and cure your problem. There is room enough for a pancake inline filter too for added protection, to cut down on carb cleanings.

Yes, but with a new one I would not have expected problems for a while. You did have it set on RUN rather than PRIME didn't you?

"is this a problum with the vac. pet **** stickin" No.
Get the inline on/off valve and a filter.
Shut the fuel off and let the bowl run dry when done riding.
No more problems.
Oh yea, no more ethanol gas.

I have been searching for a thread that would help me too. But mine situation is slightly different
Issue: Once I get the LT80 running it has gas dripping out the air intake. I realize that I have a flood condition but I have cleaned the carb no less than 8 times and rebuilt the carb with a new float valve and seat. I have also changed out the petcock to remove the vacuum line.
I have run the carb out of fuel by shutting off the petcock.
I have run the carb with the choke open and with it closed and it still is dripping fuel while running.
Stock jets in the entire carb.
Here is what I have not done
I have not tested the floats to see if they are leaking, I didn't see any evidence of residue inside the floats.
I have not plugged the vacuum line from the carb.

I am getting to the end of my rope and I could use some help
Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
Have you checked the reed yet? Maybe it's cracked.
Altho not the problem, that vac line shoulf be plugged.
Still running ethanol fuel?

Thanks!
That is something I hadn't considered. I will pull the reed cage and inspect. I will post my findings.
I am using Ethanol fuel. What is your recommendation as another option? I am in So Cal.

I recently took delivery of these two used LT80's and I am still getting them prepped for operation. My standards of maintenance are higher than the previous owner so it's been a labor of love.

I will post pictures of the nest (with eggs) that I found under the front shroud.

Well an update on the flooding issue:

Removed the carb and the reed cage for inspection.
Reeds looked good although they had some grit on them. Took it apart cleaned and reassembled.
While inspecting them I wondered if changing these out over to Boysen reeds would make a difference in performance and reliability. I didn't want to get too carried away since these quads I am working on (yes there is another one with problems) are for my 7 year old twins and not for the MX race track.

Pulled the apart the carb:
Tested the floats - passed
Inspected the float valve and took extra time to make sure this was adjusted.
Pulled all jets and cleaned them again.
Pulled the choke plunger and cleaned.
Plugged off the vacuum intake at the carb body.

Put it all back together and it started on the first crank.

In the end I think the new petcock (no vacuum), cleaning the reed body, and fine tuning the floats has made the difference.
I will post on another thread the challenges on Quad 2 but for now Quad 1 is running perfectly.
