I've never known a centrifugal clutch to stick "engaged", they normally work fine until the shoes wear to the metal, then slip. It would be interesting to know what Honda uses the same shoes as Suzuki, I have lots of old ones from both makes, and none are the same, the part that hooks onto the spring is reversed, maybe it doesn't matter. I'm still convinced it will be your one way clutch at fault.

Well, I still don't know what happened when I originally assembled it (and I tried the 1 way clutch both ways), but I finally fixed the problem. I went ahead and rebuilt the wet clutch with the Honda parts. Put the 1 way clutch in incorrectly again, took it all apart and reversed it and viola! My Eiger is back in action. Alex G. and merryman, I sit corrected. You guys were right. Thanks for the help.

Any part numbers on those Honda shoes? It would be good to know what fits, as I rebuild lots of Suzuki centrifugal clutches, (the manual version of the 400's clutch shoes don't last long) and having to buy the whole unit is wasting money. Glad you got it working anyway.

Thanks, the shoes are for a Honda 400 Auto, according to that number, I fitted a set to a Honda this spring, took months for them to come as they were on back order. I'm fairly sure the spring mounting point is different to Suzuki, but it must not matter if yours fit OK.
